To qualify, a student must be:

*Pursuing a bachelor's degree
*A U.S. citizen resident
Scholars may begin their college career by entering into either a 2 or 4-year accredited, public (state funded) college or university within their state of legal residence, as long as they stay on track to complete a bachelor's degree program. The Honors College will offer 20 Presidential Honors Scholarships for fall 2010. These scholarships are awarded solely on the basis of academic merit. The Terry Foundation,the largest private source of scholarships in Texas, will select 16 incoming freshman at UTSA as Terry Scholars. To be a strong candidate for these scholarships, applicants should be ranked in the top 20% of their high school class and should have an SAT-R V+M of 1100 (V+M) or an ACT of 24 or higher. Students appy to UTSA by completing the Texas Common Application available online at www.applytexas.org
To apply for a UTSA Presidial Honors Scholarship, students must complete the UTSA Honors College Application. College applications are available on the web at www.utsa.edu/honors
To apply for a Terry Scholarship, students must complete the Terry scholars application. Terry Scholarship applications are available on the web at:www.utsa.edu/terryscholars.
Both sets of application material should be mailed to the Honors College Office, The University of Texas at San Antonio,UTSA Circle, San Antonio, TX. 78249-0656. The postmark deadline for the UTSA Terry Scholarships is February 1, 2010 and the postmark deadline for the Presidential Honors Scholarships is February 15, 2010.
On Thursday, November 19, 2009, UTSA will also host an "Honors Night" from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The purpose of Honors Night is to provide prospective Honors students with more information about UTSA and the Honors College.

2010 Gates Millennium Scholars Program |
The process requires applicants to complete the Gates scholarship application (Nominee Personal Information) form and to have a nominator who is an educator and a recommender who is familiar with their leadership and community service complete the Nominator and Recommender forms respectively. There is no limit to the number of students you may nominate or recommend for the GMS scholarship. One thoudand students will be selected based on the following eligibility criteria:
*Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American
*Are a citizen/legal permanent resident or national of the United States
*Have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or earned a GED
* Will be enrolling for the first time at a U.S. accredited college or university as full-time,degree-seeking first year student in the Fall of 2009
*Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities

GMS has opened the on-line scholarship application for the 2010 selection process. We highly recommend that nomination forms are submitted online at www.gmsp.org. Scholarship applications must be submitted online by January 11,2010 by 11:59 p.m. EST or the paper application postmarked on or before January 11,2010. Nomination booklets are enclosed, and additional paper copies can be downloaded from website. As apart of the outreach efforts, students 8th through 12th grade, parents and counselors can register within the Online Communities tab on the homepage at www.gmsp.org. The East Texas Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan on majoring in petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering or chemical engineering at an accredited four year university. Freshman receive $500 per semester, upper classmen receive $1,000 per semester for a total of $7,000 given over 4 years.
